Hors Sentiers

Off Trails

After Recreation here is OFF TRAIL

The new collaboration between VELOCIDADE and VERA

Hors Sentiers , a special bike pack designed for desert explorations.

Off Trails

A four-handed job

Still as many kilometers separate us from V eracycling but still the same desire to create things together and to continue to tell a common story with our accessories. In Roubaix , Céline designed the sand-colored pattern. A very natural Tie & Dye bordering on camouflage… to get lost in the dunes… In Mirepoix , with his meticulous hands and countless sewing machines, Ricardo cuts the specially printed fabric into a waterproof canvas and assembles the Desman bags in his workshop.

This ultra-light cycling cap (26 gr) can be worn under a helmet with its short visor, or simply without a helmet to protect yourself from the sun during your adventures off the beaten track. And to have the essentials at hand, the small Desman food pouch type bag, discreet and practical, in reference to this small animal that lives in certain Ariège rivers.

And to protect your neck from the sun, your neck from the cold, your nose from the dust, we offer you the HORS SENTIERS Bandana. It also serves as a small tablecloth for your bikepacking picnic, and as a super-glasses wipe! Well... it depends if you put fries on it before... And if you like to decorate your bike, you can hang it on your bag, it will fly in the wind like a flag that carries the colors of our bikesophy.

Off Trails

So much off the beaten track waiting to be discovered.

Behind the scenes of HORS SENTIERS

Today we reveal the manufacturing process of the Desman bag with the fabric designed by Céline de Veracycling specially printed in a waterproof canvas. A bag with a beautiful capacity of 2.9 L, easy opening with one hand, this bag is perfect for slipping in small objects (water bottle, windbreaker, keys, phone, etc.).

Simple and effective!

It all starts with the preparation of the outer pocket : placing the label on the front and sewing the bias. Once each piece of the entire bag is cut, we add a new layer of fabric, what we call the lining inside for better resistance of the bag.

We then move on to several steps such as the reinforced seams of the straps that will be used to attach the bag to the bike (bartack machine) on the left or right side of the stem. Or the insertion of a loop to pass the stabilizing elastic to be attached to the stem or fork.

In bikepacking mode

Bikepacking, a form of minimalist cycle tourism, invites you to adventure by bike by exploring the great outdoors with lightness and autonomy. It combines the spirit of adventure by bike with the practicality of reduced equipment, thus allowing you to cover longer distances and access varied terrain, including unpaved trails.

Minimalism and lightness

Bikepacking is distinguished by its philosophy of minimalism. Unlike traditional cycle touring, which uses bulky racks and panniers, bikepacking favors lighter bags attached directly to the bike frame, saddle, and handlebars. This configuration allows for better maneuverability and greater freedom of movement, essential for technical terrain and long days in the saddle.

Essential equipment

Equipment selection is crucial in bikepacking. Bags are specially designed to optimize space and weight distribution. Ultralight clothing and camping gear are preferred to reduce the load without compromising comfort and safety. Good equipment also includes a repair kit, multi-tools, and reliable navigation devices.

Autonomy and freedom

Bikepacking offers great autonomy . Cyclists can camp wherever they want, in the wilderness or in designated camping areas, which allows them to free themselves from the constraints of accommodation. This autonomy is accompanied by a deep connection with the environment, inviting a more sustainable and nature-friendly way of traveling.

Exploration and discovery

Bikepacking opens up endless possibilities for exploration. Cyclists can take less traveled roads, discover breathtaking landscapes and live authentic adventures far from the classic tourist routes. It is an invitation to discovery and improvisation, where each day brings its share of surprises and challenges. Bikepacking is an exhilarating way to discover the world by bike, combining adventure, freedom and minimalism for a unique and enriching experience.

RICARDO VIEIRA-FOUNDER/DESIGNER/COUTURIER

Ricardo has been thinking for a long time about reducing his environmental impact, whether through his sporting practice of cycling, running, or in his everyday life, having decided to be vegetarian more than 20 years ago. Curious and passionate, he started creating and manufacturing his first objects when his grandfather gave him a sewing machine for his 17th birthday, and since then, he has worked to create, repair, and manufacture with the same energy and in the same direction, that of sobriety and localism. Convinced that the bicycle is the ultimate decarbonized solution for everyday travel, Ricardo decided to create Velocidade, and started designing and creating handmade bags, in a completely artisanal way.
